In the whirlwind of motherhood, finding a moment to unwind and relax can seem like an impossible task. However, carving out just a few minutes for self-care can make all the difference. This simple yet effective foot bath and acupressure routine is designed to help you relax, alleviate muscle tension, and prepare for a good night's sleep, even on the busiest of days.
Duration: 5 minutes
To start, prepare a warm foot bath. Add 50 grams of magnesium chloride flakes for every five liters of water. Magnesium flakes are renowned for their ability to relax muscle tension and promote a restful sleep. TAs an alternative or in addition, add a few drops of lavender essential oil. Lavender is well-known for its calming and stress-relieving properties.
Once your foot bath is ready, sit back and relax for five minutes, letting the warm water and calming ingredients work their magic.
Step 2: Dry and Massage
Duration: 6 minutes
After the foot bath, you will perform acupressure on three specific points on your feet and lower legs. Each point should be massaged for about 30 seconds. Repeat this process on both sides.
1. SP-6 Point:
Location: On the inside of your lower leg, about four fingers above your ankle, just behind the tibia bone (the larger of the two bones in your lower leg).
Benefits: Massaging this point calms the heart, decreases anxiety, and helps to tranquilize the mind.
2. KD1 Point:
Location: On the sole of your foot, in a slight depression created when you fold the foot.
Benefits: Known as the “bubbling spring,” this point calms the mind and relieves headaches.
3. LV3 Point:
Location: Where the skin of the big toe and the second toe connect in the forefoot.
Benefits: Massaging this point lowers blood pressure, reduces stress, and alleviates anger and irritability.
Important Note
This practice is highly effective and can be incorporated into your nightly routine for better sleep and overall relaxation. However, it is important to note that this routine should be avoided during pregnancy.
