December, 18th

Welcome to Day 18 of your Self-Care Advent Calendar. today, we invite you to practice a self-compassion meditation.

So often, we are our own harshest critics. We carry the weight of expectations, judgment, and self-doubt. But just as we would extend understanding and care to a close friend in times of struggle, we too deserve that same warmth and compassion.

Today, we will gently explore these moments—not to judge or fix them, but to approach them with openness and a kind heart. Together, we’ll practice shifting from self-criticism to self-compassion, building a deeper connection with the part of ourselves that needs understanding.

As we move through this practice, remember that it’s okay to feel whatever arises. Allow yourself to lean into kindness, one breath at a time.

When you're ready, we’ll begin.

Journaling questions:

  • Reflect on a recent situation where you were hard on yourself. What were the thoughts or feelings that came up? How would you respond to a friend who experienced something similar?

  • What does kindness toward yourself look like? Write about one small way you can offer yourself care or understanding in moments of struggle.

  • Think of a time when you overcame a challenge. How did your efforts, resilience, or strengths help you? What would it feel like to acknowledge and celebrate your growth?
